Since Lesieli Vete’s appointment to the role of interim CEO in June 2021, she has stabilized EMTV’s business operation and is steering the company to achieve a positive performance transformation. Making tough but viable decisions, role modelling resilient mindsets, building a robust team and being a hands-on team leader with consistent energy, determination and intense commitment, is her leadership model.
The interim CEO is sowing seeds of a new culture of mentoring, coaching, and spotlighting potential team members, who are team players with the ability and motivation to fill senior and management roles, on a relentless journey pursuing impactful outputs.
Lesieli previously held the role of Head of Sales and Marketing from 2014 to 2016, and in 2020 to 2021, with a record of generating EMTV’s highest revenue years during her first term. In the aviation industry Lesieli held the role of manager Fiji airports & systems for Fiji Airways; country manager for Royal Tongan Airlines; and branch manager for Pan Pacific Tours & Travel. In the five star resort industry, Lesieli held sales and marketing management roles at the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, Grand Pacific Hotel, Namale Fiji Beach Resort and Intercontinental Fiji Golf Beach Resort.
She also worked for family in Tonga assisting to manage subsidiary operations in hotel lodging; quarry plant and block making factory; cargo and sand dredging barges; poultry farm; liquor distillery; construction projects and hardware retail; motor vehicle workshop and spare parts retail; meat imports and retail. Furthermore Lesieli landed several attachments at large scale international companies in New Zealand to observe and study effective and efficient production planning and processes.
Lesieli attended high school in Tonga, New Zealand and New Caledonia. She acquired a business certificate and diploma in travel and tourism from Russo Institute of Technology Brisbane Australia; a graduate diploma in project management; and a graduate diploma in operations and production management with distinction, including the top performing business student award from Ara Institute of Canterbury, Christchurch New Zealand.
