K6 Million Dividend - Return on Investment
DATEC PNG remains one of Telikom Limited’s subsidiaries (State-Owned Enterprise) which has continuously provided returns since its acquisition by Telikom Limited some years ago.
CEO for DATEC PNG Mr. Gokul Naidu was in attendance to make this presentation to its holdings company, Telikom Limited. Present to witness this key event was Minister for SOE (State-owned Enterprises) Honourable William Duma and KCH MD Professor David Kavanamur, Telikom Board and managers and heads of Telikom’s subsidaries.
Board Chairman for Telikom Limited, Mr Cedric Rondoke commented on how investing in DATEC PNG was a good decision for the business as they have seen the returns yearly with dividends and management fees totalling up to K28 million (Inclusive of the K6 million dividend payment).
CEO for Telikom Limited, Mr. Amos Tepi supported Mr. Rondoke’s views by saying, “This is not the first time DATEC has made their dividend payment; this payment being the biggest.” He further detailed DATEC’s success story to the application of proper processes like the ISO 9001:2015 security and the ISO 27001 certification that is seen to be essential in providing the support for the company in striving to achieve its vision.
Minister for SOE, Hon. Duma reiterated on the intention of the Marape Government which is to see all SOE’s deliver and provide dividends so the Government can be able to provide basic services like health and education. “As a good businessman, you want honest returns on your investment, for far too long, our people have become lone enemies to themselves, expecting forigners to come and deliver for us without realizing that we are equally as smart as them.”
Mr. Duma concluded his remarks by saying, “ If DATEC PNG is not one of the leading companies in ICT, then it will be one very soon. It is only a matter of time.”
In support of this statement, The Minister will be issuing a circular advising the other SOE’s to secure their ISP services from DATEC PNG.
